Many people consider wrestling and fighting to be the same sport but that is not true. While a wrestler has certain moves not to beat the other person but to ensure that the other person remains under control where as the motive of a fighter is to injure and knock off the opponent. The transition from one sport to another is equally difficult but a remarkable story is that of Josh Koscheck, Even though his fighting career is at a very nascent stage the 29 year old, has made a name for himself and is reputed among the best fighters in the world.

He started off as a wrestler in his college days and also went to win the national college championship; this made the people believe in him as a star in the making. The mixed martial arts expert started of as a professional welterweight when he first features on the first edition of The Ultimate fighter. His scintillating fighting style and a great presence made him an instant success, all this was backed up by some powerful strikes that made him win various games and he landed in the semi finals of the competition. Josh faced accuses from his quarter final opponent in terms of his style of fighting, but probably that was something very natural to him. Josh’s journey in the ultimate fighter came to an end when he went down to Daniel Sanchez on a verdict that was not unanimous. Though he did not reach the finals by the conducted rounds but he did feature that night for a fight making his first UFC appearance against Chris Sanford. Josh or popularly known as “Kos” went on to grab his first victory on debut and this he complimented by a second successive victory when he surpassed Pete Spratt.

After all the accolades and the victorious triumphs, Josh was handed his first defeat by Drew Fickett. This was a big setback for him and his career. Josh knew that he had to com back strong and fit, he did exactly that when he got the better of Jonathan Goulet. After this in the ending of 2006 Josh got an opportunity for which he was probably waiting for all his life. He faced Daniel Sanchez, the man who knocked him off the Ultimate Fighter but this time Josh had a lot on stake. And as it is said that where there is a will there is a way, Josh’s perseverance paid off and he was crowned the winner.

This criminal justice graduate has made a kick start to a career which is still in its very early days but the future for sure is very bright. With and impressive win-loss record of 9-2, there is everything to cheer about. He is currently placed as the 4th best fighter in the world among the welterweight competitors and for sure he deserves all the honors he has got. His last bout which handed him his second defeat was against St. Pierre but there is no doubt that the defeat was just a one off in a career that will be exhibited by wins.
