On The Ultimate Fighter, What Is The Metal Bar They Rub The Fighter’s Faces With Between Rounds?

Between rounds on bouts on The Ultimate Fighter, the coaches rub what looks like a little flat metal bar on the fighter’s faces – why do they do this? What is it for? It has a handle, and they seem to do it every time they have a break between rounds, but I have no idea why. Any insight? Thanks!
